LDI-hosted Q&A Sessions with our current trainees

In January and February, we host Q&A sessions with our current trainees, without supervisors present. Accordingly, these sessions serve as an opportunity to hear about our training program, including our clinical psychology internship, directly from our trainees, receive responses to candid questions, and help students determine if training at Learning Dynamics is a good fit for their professional goals. Additionally, each session is one hour and interested students are welcome to “drop-in” to the session of their choice to learn more or ask questions. All interested students are welcome. However, registration is required.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, the clinical psychology internship position conducts psychological assessments and provides individual therapeutic services to clients in our counseling, Brain Bootcamp, and College Connection programs. This position allows delivery of therapeutic services to clients virtually for the training year, with in-person client contact hours required for assessment clients. Optional: Trainees may choose to see therapy clients in-person in any of our office locations.

Benefits of Training at Learning Dynamics:

Staff and trainees at Learning Dynamics work closely together as a collaborative, strength-based team. Trainees work with a diverse range of clients with different presenting problems in a supportive setting. For example, our population includes prenatal and postpartum issues, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, work stress, relationship challenges, and adjustment disorders. Furthermore, students at our agency have a unique opportunity to learn therapeutic interventions targeted at strengthening executive functioning skills that are beneficial to a range of clients with unique learning styles. In addition to live supervision, client consent forms include permission to video tape sessions to provide enhanced supervision and training abilities.

Assessment training includes assisting in physician and clinician referred diagnostic clarification evaluations examining two or more domains of functioning. Trainees with advanced assessment skills may assist with our agency’s comprehensive evaluations that include an integration of psychological, neuropsychological, and psychoeducational measures.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Individual work schedules vary depending on the needs of the program(s) served. Allocation of hours must remain consistent with agency policies. Internship positions are full-time and require an average of 20 client contact hours each week. Interns regular schedules will include working either [1] three evenings (till 8:30pm) per week, [2] two evenings per week and two Saturdays per month, or [3] one evening per week and every Saturday. All interns will have work on Saturdays (not necessarily every Saturday), as the agency is open 6 days per week. Psychology trainees have flexibility in adjusting their own schedules; provided their schedule does not conflict with expected attendance at meetings and trainings.

Required attendance activities include weekly therapy didactic (Wednesdays at 9am), case conference (Fridays at 9am), assessment didactic (Fridays at 1pm) and supervision (typically Mondays and Wednesdays).
