LDI-hosted Q&A Sessions with our current trainees

In January and February, we host Q&A sessions with our current trainees, without supervisors present. Accordingly, these sessions serve as an opportunity to hear about our training program directly from our trainees, receive responses to candid questions, and help students determine if training at Learning Dynamics is a good fit for their professional goals. Additionally, each session is one hour and interested students are welcome to “drop-in” to the session of their choice to learn more or ask questions. All interested students are welcome. However, registration is required.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, our clinical psychology practicum position provides individual therapeutic services to clients in our counseling, Brain Bootcamp, and College Connection programs. This position allows delivery of services to clients virtually for the training year, with no in-person client contact hours required by our agency. However, trainees must meet expectations of their individual school programs. Optional: Trainees may choose to see clients in-person in any of our office locations (Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, and/or Bakersfield).

Benefits of Training at Learning Dynamics:

Staff and trainees at Learning Dynamics work closely together as a collaborative, strength-based team. Trainees work with a diverse range of clients with different presenting problems in a supportive setting. For example, our population includes prenatal and postpartum issues, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, work stress, relationship challenges, and adjustment disorders. Furthermore, students at our agency have a unique opportunity to learn therapeutic interventions targeted at strengthening executive functioning skills that are beneficial to a range of clients with unique learning styles. In addition to live supervision, client consent forms include permission to video tape sessions to provide enhanced supervision and training abilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Individual work schedules vary depending on the needs of the program(s) served. Allocation of hours must remain consistent with agency policies. Practicum positions require an average of 12-16 hours weekly; this includes a minimum of 5 (masters-level trainee) or 10 (doctoral-level trainee) client contact hours each week. Trainees’ regular schedules will include having the availability to meet with clients on at least two weekday evenings (till 8:00pm) or on Saturdays. Psychology trainees have flexibility in adjusting their own schedules; provided their schedule does not conflict with expected attendance at meetings and trainings.

Required attendance activities include weekly didactics (Wednesdays at 9am), case conference (Fridays at 9am), and supervision (typically Mondays and Wednesdays). Additionally, trainees must attend orientation from 9am-3pm daily from 8/11/2025-8/15/2025, with part of this orientation occurring in-person and part virtually. Furthermore, trainees must attend in-person quarterly staff development events. This is a one-year, part-time, unpaid position (08/11/2025-08/07/2026). In addition to agency holidays, trainees receive 5 days of sick leave and one personal day.
